Meet Dan Berard

Dan is our Audobon Specialist. In 2006 he worked as a naturalist for the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and on the Dolphin Fleet on Tuesdays aboard the 9:30 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. trips. He has been a “hardcore birdwatcher” for 12 years and has experience with seabirds and whales on both coasts.

While on the Dolphin Fleet he was recording the numbers of seabirds within Race Point, while traveling to Stellwagen Bank, and on Stellwagen Bank. "Seabirds are difficult to study and keep track of because they only go to land to breed and spend the rest of their lives out on the ocean", he says. The data he collected in the summer of 2006 will hopefully give us a better understanding of the frequency of occurrence and the habits of these pelagic birds.
