Meet Kimberly Amaral

Kimberly Amaral is a science writer, researcher and naturalist from Cape Cod , Massachusetts . For over ten years, she has been a naturalist at the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary in Cape Cod Bay , watching and studying large whales and dolphins. She holds a Master's degree in marine biology, researching the social lives of Atlantic white-sided dolphins and grey seals using genetics at Cambridge University .

She has worked with Dr. Carole Carlson investigating non-lethal methods of studying whales and evaluating the impact of tourism on marine mammals. Currently, she is a researcher at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution studying marine mammal acoustics. She is also a Ph.D. candidate in the Environmental Studies program at Antioch New England Graduate School , where she will investigate the impact of man-made noise on marine mammals.
